About This Game I have been developing games and creating pixel art full time for a little over three years now. I have spent a lot of time studying and trying to perfect "game feel" principles. Gunlock is the first installment in what I have dubbed the "mini series." Gunlock is a small but very polished score chasing game with retro gameboy palette pixelart.Stomp on enemies in order to increase combo multiplier and reload ammo.Pick up ammo supplies to fully reload and swap to a random gun.Gun them enemies down with over a dozen different guns!Collect coins to purchase more guns and sexy color palettes!Compete against other players across the Steam leaderboards on 3 different stages!Defeat 3 Giant bosses! One hit and you're dead... so don't get hit.Gunlock was developed by two people:Aleksandar Kuzmanovic [MrAmlice] - Coding / Design / Art / SFXBrian Havey [zminusone] - Music / Additional SFX 7aa9394dea Title: GunlockGenre: Action, Indie, StrategyDeveloper:Aleksandar Kuzmanovic GamesPublisher:Aleksandar Kuzmanovic GamesRelease Date: 7 Dec, 2017 Gunlock Download In Parts gunlock atv trails. gunlocke molti. gunlock meaning. gunlocke olla. gunlock bass fishing. gun lock gun. free gun lock philadelphia. gunlock bundschu. gunlock lake fishing. gps gun lock. gunlocke armchair. gunlocke furniture. gun lock 345. gunlocke new york. free gun lock program. nra gun lock. gunlock mame rom. gunlock drowning. gunlock utah hikes. 94dspt gun lock. gunlocke dining chairs. saiyuki reload gunlock 08 vostfr. grease gun lock. gunlock heating and air. gunlock reservoir fishing. gunlock meteorite. gunlocke oak chair Great solid fun arcade game from the genius mind behind Unworthy. Engaging gameplay, great art, lots of content and more for only the price of a beer.. It shreds your♥♥♥♥♥♥off, but in a good way. So tough, but so fun!. The Oppressor gun FTW! Fun times!. Slightly tighter (i.e., not quite so floaty) movement and, especially, a dodge roll would benefit this game SO much, but it is, as it stands at present, a very fun, often frantic, wave-based 2D platform shooter. Ideal for high-score junkies.. It’s a short and engaging arcade-styled game that’ll only cost you a few quarters.Graphically, Gunlock also does a good job of appealing to my pixelated interests. Levels have great motifs that match the great sprites and the backgrounds. The stylish 2 color (with shades) pallets distinguish point of interest from the background. Firing and hitting a target with a weapon is easy to measure. Also the pixel-cursive font used in the logo and menus is fantastic.I’m a big fan of the jammin’ chiptunes that Gunlock has (props to zminusone). However, I chose to pick my own audio for the most part as each level’s track can amuse for so long. Plus, the game makes a good ‘thumb twiddler’ so it’s great to use as something to do while also catching up on music/youtube/podcasts.Enemy and stage variety is diverse across the few boards Gunlock contains and both work nicely together. The snowy area had a good idea going with horizontal layers that complemented the snowballs and snowmen while the jungle level had enemies that got up in your face in the small safe zone. There are a few inconsistencies with enemy spawns and boss spawn timing (once had one show up over and over, which was convenient for gold collection) but these moments weren’t common.Weapons also have variety and the unlockable ones are awesome. They’ve all got distant sound effects which gives them character and can help you quickly identify them when they swap out. Having to get to an ammo pack to swap and refill a weapon is a good way to keep things moving and engaging. You’ve got to considered how to get there safely and then how to change your playstyle to accommodate for the new weapon. However, once I had saw the option to only choose 3+ weapons for battle, levels became a little more streamlined with unfavorable weapons gone and more predictability weapon drops. I’m not sure if this made things more entertaining since it did replaced variety and quick adapting with consistency that helped me advance to the end. Balancing random elements in a tougher game can be risky. Perhaps that variety could be promoted with weapon-specific levels/challenges to motivate the player to get out of their comfort zone.Overall, if you’re familiar with games of a similar control scheme it’s an easy recommendation.I’m not sure if Gunlock is designed to be a longer term project (it has been updated in the past) but it feels like there’s a few empty slots for loads of potential for different modes/power ups/weapons/secrets/levels/challenges.Regardless, it’s a great little gem the way it is now.The major reason I bring that up is because of lack of acknowledgement of beating the ‘finale boss’. Although, that one mysterious achievement makes me think there might be more to that last area….. Gunlock is a simple single screen arcade style scoreathon, featuring an en vogue Game Boy™ pixel art style and pallet. Evocative of arcade and home console video games of the 80s, the action takes place in a arena that wraps at the edges with the goal to either kill or be killed. Your performance in Gunlock is measured by combo multipliers and total score. Progression is made by defeating bosses to unlock further arenas and by collecting dropped nuggets. Nuggets are then spent on further weapons and colour pallets. I did not enjoy all of the guns available and found myself selecting my favorite 3, but this does give you the option choosing how you want to play and is a welcome option. The mechanics of the game are explained well enough in a brief tutorial level and can be expressed with a keyboard and mouse or controller. Having tried both control options I found that unsurprisingly I was more accurate with a mouse than a analog stick or steam controller touch pad. The action felt tangible enough through the controls that any failure felt like it was my fault rather than any fault of my controls. The enemies come at you in waves, getting progressively trickier but also fair as you advance. I felt like each enemy was teaching me something about the game and its mechanics or at least reminding me. Once you have dispatched with enough foes the arena boss makes an appearance to give you a final exam, and can take a few tries to master. The art style is very well realised but distracting at times. I found myself not noticing enemies due to the colour pallet on occasion. However once I had locked in a zen state with the game this ceased to be an issue. I can appreciate why the game has the art style it has, and if had one thing I could say to the developer it would be to carry on with the pixel art style because you clearly have developed a talent for it, but I would like to see more colour in future titles. The sound design and music is fitting for the aesthetic, featuring 8bit tones and noise layered with the odd wild west whistle. I enjoyed the sound and music, it feels appropriate for the action happening on screen. There is a lack of sound from the enemies (unless I just didn’t notice) but I feel this may have been overkill, as the game strikes a nice balance between gunfire and music.I really enjoy Gunlock, it's a great game to easily spend a few rounds or an hour on. It requires no investment from the player other than the development of your ability to improve and reach higher scores. While there are a few minor things that nagged me about the game overall I would recommend this game and say that it is worth your time and money, especially if you enjoy polished retro style arcade games.
